Well yes, this is a very unique innovation that has be developed by scientists. This is known as a sOccket. The football captures and stores the energy during a normal game, which can be used later to charge batteries and LEDs. The football is being applied in developing countries.
The concept of the sOccet grew out of an undergraduate engineering project at Horvard university. Many children in developing countries play the game and the same ball can provide lighting so that children dont need other sources of light.
The sOccet model used an inductive coil mechanism to store energy. It worked on the principle of rolling a magnet through a coil to create a electric charge. Field testing showed that about 15 minutes of game play could power the LED for about three hours.
